Wizard, VANISH and SuperStar: Which Repair System Fits Which Shop

GT Tools builds three windshield repair systems and they are not three tiers of the same thing. The SuperStar SpeedLock is $772.00 and hand-operated, with supplies for over 150 repairs. The VANISH is $882.00, also hand-operated, with an integrated curing bridge and the full five-resin set. The Wizard is $3,255.00 and automated, running the injection cycle itself. The choice comes down to two things: what comes in the case, and whether the technician or the machine controls the fill. This guide covers all three systems and which is the best fit for your shop.

The Three Systems

System Price Operation Resins included
SuperStar SpeedLock $772.00 Hand-operated bridge and injector Three 15cc bottles
VANISH Professional $882.00 Hand-operated bridge and injector Five 15cc bottles
Wizard Smart $3,255.00 Automated machine Five 15cc bottles

SuperStar SpeedLock

GT Tools describes the SuperStar as an introductory kit engineered with simplicity in mind, using the same stainless steel materials as the VANISH system, and one of the easiest injectors to operate. It is packaged with enough supplies to produce over 150 repairs.

The case holds one injector assembly, the SuperStar bridge, a cordless drill with charger, the DarkCure lamp, a carbide probe, razor blades, pit squares, suction cup lube, pit gloss, medium drill bits, a 2-inch magnifying mirror, a seal box with high-pressure injector seals, plunger seals and air release seals, a vertical glass adapter, and three resins: medium viscosity, high viscosity, and the high-viscosity pit filler.

The vertical glass adapter is the one item in that list that the other two kits do not include. Door glass and other vertical work is covered from the case rather than bought as an add-on.

VANISH Professional

The VANISH is built around four published features: the patented DarkCure sub-15-second fully integrated UV curing system, the patent-pending SpeedLock multi-position injector, a OneTouch Air Release Valve, and what GT Tools calls industry-leading vacuum and pressure capacity. It is patented, patent-pending, and made in the USA.

Curing works differently here. On the SuperStar the DarkCure is a separate lamp; on the VANISH it is built into the bridge, so the cure happens without repositioning anything. The kit charges over USB-C from an 8.4V wall charger, which matters in a van.

The case also includes a slide hammer, two Crack Jacks and a needle cap, so long-crack work is covered out of the box, and all five resins: LV, MV, HV, CR and the PF pit filler.

Wizard Smart

The Wizard is the automated system. GT Tools patented the Eliminator 27 years ago as the first fully computerized windshield repair system, and released the Wizard in 2021 as its successor, describing it as fully automated, lightweight and easy to use.

Inside the case: a Wizard machine and injector assembly, a quick-connect injector assembly, a VANISH UV curing bridge, a cordless Dremel drill, the DarkCure Extreme rechargeable curing system, a 16.8V charger, an air hose, two Crack Jacks, all five resins, and a seal box with VANISH injector seals, Wizard quick-connect seals and VANISH friction seals.

The Wizard is not a separate platform beside the other two. It uses the VANISH bridge and the same VANISH seals.

Hand-Operated or Automated

A hand-operated system puts the injection cycle under the technician's thumb. The technician reads the fill through the glass and adjusts pressure and vacuum by feel, pulsing where a leg is slow to take resin. The result depends on the skill of the person holding it.

An automated system runs the cycle the same way every time regardless of who is holding it. In a shop where several technicians of different experience levels do repairs between other work, that consistency is a significant benefit, and what you are paying more for.

So the useful question is not which system is better in the abstract. It is whether your repair quality currently depends on which technician is working that day.

What automation does not remove

The Wizard automates the injection cycle. It does not automate the rest of the repair. Cleaning the damage, positioning the bridge, drilling where a break needs it, judging when the legs are full, capping the pit and polishing the surface are the same manual steps on all three systems.

So the consistency argument is narrower than it first looks. Automation removes variance from the injection step, which is the step where pressure and vacuum are easiest to get wrong. A shop whose technicians have various levels of skills and experience will still need to work on training, even with this automated system.

Where the SuperStar and VANISH differ

Both are hand-operated and use stainless steel injector components. The price difference is $110.00, and it comes down to what else is in the case and how the curing works.

The VANISH adds two resins the SuperStar does not include: LV for star breaks and cold-weather work, and CR for long cracks. Bought separately those are $39.00 each, which closes $78.00 of the $110.00 gap on its own. It also adds a slide hammer, two Crack Jacks and a needle cap, which is the long-crack hardware, and moves the curing into the bridge rather than a separate lamp.

Read the other way: the SuperStar covers bullseyes, combination breaks and pit filling out of the box, adds the vertical glass adapter the VANISH does not include, and a shop that does not take long-crack work will not be paying for equipment it will not use.

What Each Case Covers

The resins in the case set what each kit can handle on day one.

Resin SuperStar VANISH Wizard
LV, low viscosity, star breaks and cold weather No Yes Yes
MV, medium viscosity, the widest working range Yes Yes Yes
HV, high viscosity, hot weather Yes Yes Yes
CR, long cracks No Yes Yes
PF, high-viscosity pit filler Yes Yes Yes

A SuperStar buyer who wants full coverage adds LV and CR at $39.00 each for a 15cc bottle, plus Crack Jacks at $28.40 single or $66.20 for a 3-pack if long cracks are part of the work.

The curing systems are not identical

All three include GT's DarkCure technology in some form, and the form differs. The SuperStar ships a DarkCure lamp. The VANISH has the DarkCure built into the bridge, published as a sub-15-second cure. The Wizard comes with DarkCure Extreme, the rechargeable curing system, alongside the VANISH bridge.

A separate lamp is a second device to position and charge. An integrated bridge is one less item in the case and one less thing to leave on a job site.

Shared Parts Across the Range

The three systems share more architecture than the price gaps suggest, which matters for anyone running two of them now, or planning to upgrade.

The X-Injector Seals 5-pack is $16.80 and fits the Wizard, VANISH, SuperStar and Spectrum. One seal SKU covers a mixed shop.

The seal boxes are not otherwise identical. The SuperStar ships high-pressure injector seals, plunger seals and air release seals; the VANISH ships VANISH injector seals and plunger seals; the Wizard ships VANISH injector seals, Wizard quick-connect seals and VANISH friction seals. Check the box list against the system before ordering a replacement that is not the shared X-seal.

Prices for select parts, for planning:

Part Price
X-Injector Seals, 5 pack $16.80
SuperStar Seal Kit $35.70
VANISH DarkCure USB Bridge Charger and cable $48.30
SuperStar Bridge $104.00
SuperStar SpeedLock Injector Body $113.40
VANISH SpeedLock Injector Body $188.00
SuperStar SpeedLock Injector Assembly, complete $236.30
SuperStar Complete Repair Assembly $295.00
VANISH Complete Repair Assembly $771.80

Prices checked 9 September 2026.

Note the spread on a SuperStar injector: a seal kit is $35.70, the injector body is $113.40, and a complete assembly is $236.30. Which one a given fault or issue needs is a question for the team. The seal kit is the least expensive of the three and the only one that replaces wear parts rather than hardware. A second technician can also be put on an existing platform with a complete assembly at $771.80 for the VANISH or $295.00 for the SuperStar, rather than a second full kit, since the consumables are already there.

Matching the System to the Shop

A replacement shop adding repair. The SuperStar at $772.00 is built for this, and GT Tools describes it as an introductory kit for that reason. Repair is a side revenue line rather than the main work, and the injector is one of the easiest to operate, which matters when the person using it does a handful of repairs a month rather than a bay full a day.

A mobile technician doing repair as the primary work. The VANISH at $882.00 covers every break type out of the case, cures in the bridge without a separate lamp, and charges over USB-C. Everything in that list is a van consideration.

A multi-technician shop where consistency is the problem. The Wizard at $3,255.00 automates the cycle so the result does not depend on who is running it. That is a different purchase from the other two, and the case for it is repeatability rather than capability.

A shop running two systems. The shared seals and the shared VANISH bridge architecture mean a Wizard in the bay and a VANISH in the van share one parts shelf.

A shop planning to grow into it. Starting on a SuperStar and moving to a VANISH later is not a wasted purchase. The seals and the resins carry over, and the SuperStar becomes the second kit rather than a trade-in. The same holds moving from a VANISH to a Wizard, which uses the VANISH bridge.

Resin choice is a separate decision

Resin choice is not a function of the system. All three ship with GT resins and all three take the full range, so you pick the bottle from the break in front of you regardless of which bridge is holding the injector. Our guide to gel versus liquid resin covers the viscosity question in more detail.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the VANISH and the SuperStar SpeedLock?

$110.00 and what is in the case. Both are hand-operated with stainless steel injector components. The VANISH at $882.00 includes all five resins, a slide hammer, two Crack Jacks and a needle cap, and its DarkCure curing is built into the bridge as a sub-15-second cure. The SuperStar at $772.00 includes three resins, no long-crack hardware, and a separate DarkCure lamp, but it is the only one of the three that ships a vertical glass adapter.

Is the Wizard worth the jump from a hand-operated system?

It depends on what problem you have. The Wizard at $3,255.00 automates the injection cycle, so the repair comes out the same regardless of which technician runs it. That suits a shop where several people of different experience levels do repairs between other work. A technician who reads the fill by feel and gets consistent results already is solving a problem they do not have.

Can I repair long cracks with the SuperStar?

Not out of the box. The SuperStar ships with medium viscosity, high viscosity and the pit filler, and no Crack Jacks. Long-crack work needs CR resin at $39.00 for 15cc plus Crack Jacks at $28.40 single or $66.20 for a 3-pack to hold the glass while it fills. The VANISH and Wizard both include CR and two Crack Jacks.

Do the three systems share parts?

Yes, more than the price gaps suggest. The X-Injector Seals 5-pack at $16.80 fits the Wizard, VANISH, SuperStar and Spectrum, so one seal SKU covers a mixed shop. The Wizard also uses the VANISH UV curing bridge and VANISH injector and friction seals, so a shop running a Wizard and a VANISH keeps one parts shelf rather than two. The rest of each seal box differs, so check the box list before ordering anything other than the shared X-seal.

How many repairs does a kit cover before restocking?

GT Tools publishes a figure for the SuperStar: enough supplies for over 150 repairs. The consumables that run out are resin, pit squares, pit tape and drill bits, and resin is the one worth watching, since a bottle is $39.00 for 15cc and $69.00 for 30cc.

What does it cost to keep a system running?

Seals are the routine item. The X-Injector Seals 5-pack is $16.80 and the SuperStar Seal Kit is $35.70. Beyond seals, a SuperStar SpeedLock Injector Body is $113.40 and a VANISH SpeedLock Injector Body is $188.00, and a complete assembly is $236.30 for the SuperStar or $771.80 for the VANISH. A complete assembly is also how you put a second technician on a platform you already run.
