Ask a QuestionDoes the base have to be bolted to the bottom of the truck? Or will they transport OK without bolting? Would there be a way to quick release the rack, as we use the truck for hauling many different auto parts.
Hi Cory, Out of the box the rack is designed with mounting holes to bolt to a truck bed and not move. I would not recommend transporting without securing the rack to the truck bed. Maybe you can set up some sort of quick release bolt mechanism that allows you to remove the rack. Or build something in your truckbed that allows you to slide the rack in and out and lock it in place.
What are the dimensions of all three (5, 9, and 14) ?
The 5 slot rack is 30" long x 19" wide x 24" tall. The 9 slot rack is 30" long x 30" wide x 24" tall, and the 14 slot rack is 30" long x 44" wide x 24" tall.
The space between pedastals is 3 inches. The base of each rack with the rubber is 3 1/4 inches tall
What does this rack weigh?
Hey Jonathan, the 5-slot rack weighs roughly 35 lb. The 9-slot rack weighs 42 lb and the 14-slot rack weighs 68 lb.
How much space is between the uprights, and how thick is the rubber base? Is the rubber base strong enough to withstand glass sliding in and out or does it cut/tear like some of the cheaper brands do? Thanks
Hey Kyle, The space between the uprights (in between the foam) is roughly 1.5" and we have a heavy-duty 0.5" thick rubber base that holds up great. Feel free to reach out to us directly with any other questions 970-247-9374
will this unit fit in a transit connect xlt 5 slot
Hey Tim,
Thanks for reaching out! Looks like the cargo width of the transit connect xlt between the wheels is 48.3". The width of the 5-slot rack is around 19", so it will definitely fit. Even if you wanted to upgrade to a 9-slot rack, which is 30" wide, you should still be able to fit it in there. I used the 2018 transit xlt specs from here (https://www.ford.com/commercial-trucks/transit-connect-cargo-van/models/transit-connect-xlt/), so if you have different dimensions in your vehicle please let me know! Give us a call at 970-247-9374 if you need anything else.
Best,
GT Tools Team
Can this be wall mounted?
They can be, yes. They are more designed for being bolted to the floor, however, they are capable of being wall-mounted.
what is the dimensions of the 14 slot glass rack?
Thank you for your questions. The 14 Slot rack assembled measured approximately 30" long x 44" wide x 24" tall. We hope this helps!
