# **GT Tools Kong – Step-by-Step Instructions**

### **Step 1: Prepare the Vehicle**

1. Remove **windshield wipers**.
2. Disconnect the **washer fluid line** from the tank.
3. Remove **cowling clips** and inspect for additional moldings or components that need removal.
4. Ensure the pinch weld channel is **clear of clips, debris, and excess urethane**.
5. Pre-cut windshield corners using a **reciprocating auto glass cutout tool** (cut at least 2" up the A-pillar and 2" across the dash).

### **Step 2: Prepare and Insert Quarter Wire**

1. Insert the **T-handle tool**.
2. Attach the **quarter wire** about 6 inches from the end into the T-handle notch.
3. Pull the wire into the vehicle, leaving **1–2 feet of slack** beyond the Kong mounting point.
4. Remove any interior moldings or obstacles preventing wire placement in the **pinch weld channel**.
5. Ensure wire is **seated below the glass** around the windshield.
6. Repeat for the **second line**, cutting the wire once sufficient slack is pulled.

### **Step 3: Set Up the Kong Tool**

1. Attach the Kong so **pulleys are toward the upper passenger corner** and the **crankshaft points down** toward the driver’s side bottom corner.
2. Feed the quarter wires:

* **Up the driver’s side A-pillar** around top pulley, under handle, through winding hub.
* **Across the dash** around bottom pulley, under handle, through winding hub.
3. Turn the **winding hub 4–5 times** to remove slack.
4. Attach the **ratchet handle**:

* Unscrew crank handle set screw.
* Place ratchet handle on winding hub.
* Screw set screw back.
5. Trim **any excess wire** from the winding hub.

### **Step 4: Begin Cutting and Protect Interior**

1. Place **large and small protection shields** between quarter wire and vehicle interior (dash, garnish molding).
2. Begin winding the Kong to start cutting in **opposing directions**.
3. Reposition protection shields as needed while cutting around the A-pillar and across the dash.
4. Attach the **leash** to guide the wire and hold it away from the headliner.
5. Use a **rocking motion with the ratchet handle** in high-stress areas to prevent overstressing the wire.
6. Reposition Kong if necessary for the final corner.
7. **Unspool and reuse** cord material for the next job.
