What About maintaining this machine ? How often and do you have all parts available in case of replacement?
The Kong machine is very low maintanance. Every 1-2 years you may need to remove the side plate and add some grease to the gear in the locking mechanism, and every 2-3 years you may need to replace the brass gear in the locking mechanism. We have all parts available at all times for refurbishing and replacement.
Can I buy the guide leash by it self? It would be helpful for my shortcut close to the headliner.
We just didn't have that part turned on online. You can buy the guide leash by itself here: https://www.gtglass.com/products/gt-tools-cord-guide-leash
2015 cheverlot silverado rear power slider..whats the best posistion for setup for removal??
The Kong would be best for the windshield of vehicles, not the back glass. Because of the inset channel on this vehicle it does require a lot of manipulation of the cord as you're cutting. The better tool for this application would be the FinalCut tool.
With this tool run wire as well as cord?.... and is the vacuum pump rebuildable if it ever needs to be?... and is rubber vacuum cup replaceable they can begin to slip?
Thank you for your questions. We recommend primarily using cord with the Kong. However, wire can also be used. The pump and suction cup along with all other items on the KONG are servicable through GT Tools. We hope this helps! GT Tools Team.
Good afternoon everyone Can a steel wire be used with the Kong?
Hello! Yes sir, the Kong and FinalCut can use both wire and cord!
As far as the three corded models, what one would be the best for all round front screen removal. So you have any agents in NZ or Australia?
Hey Mark, thanks for asking. If you're only doing front screen removal, the Kong is your best bet. Its large 8" platform and the ability to cut in two directions at once essentially cuts your removal time in half. You only have to position the tool once. However, this large platform is difficult to use on back glass or quarter glasses if you're removing any of those. If you're removing mostly front windscreens and back glass, the ShortCut is the ideal tool. Same 8" platform as the Kong, but with an offset angled body that allows you to get into corners of the back glass better. If you are removing a fair amount of quarter glasses as well, the FinalCut is the most well-rounded tool. A smaller 6" platform allows you to get into tighter spaces, but still retains all the same technical benefits of the ShortCut. We have a distributor in Australia that brings in product as needed. I'd be happy to put you in touch - send an email to pc@gtglass.com or give us a call at the office 970-247-9374.

Can this product be ran with a drill or ratchet only?
Hi Matt, We recommend that the Kong be run with either a Drill or a ratchet. We do not recommend running it with any type of impact tool as they will greatly accelerate the wear on the internal gearing.

Feed the Gorilla Cord™ or ZipLine™ through the urethane perimeter using the guide shields.

Auto Glass Replacement Tools
View allThis is my go to cut out tool. Love it.
I bought this to replace my older Kong cut out tool. GT has made many improvements to this tool over the years, and this version is by far a more superior tool than its competitors and its predecessors. This is my number one "go to" corded tool in any situation where a corded tool is needed. A true time saver and money maker. It is worth every penny I spent on it, and has paid for itself countless times over at this point.
Haven't tried it yet. Looks promising and make cutting glass out alot easier without scratching the vehicle.
Build quality is exceptional. Fast shipping. Makes removing glass a breeze. Will definitely order from them again.
I watched many videos before buying first time I was haveing problem with the last corner but fiver it out not works so much better than my bat
Excellent product!
We were using a different machine, but it broke after 7 years. We purchased KONG because of the price point and thought it looked like a well build machine. We have used only a handful of times and find that it takes a little longer to set up and use than our old system. Having to use a ratchet by hand instead of a drill requires a bit more strength and is slower. However, the KONG cup is very solid and holds without moving a problem we had with the old system. I'm confident that we will be able to improve the time it takes with more usage.
