Using the Basic Windshield Removal Kit properly ensures a safe and damage-free removal process. Follow these steps:
Step 1: Prep the Work Area
- Ensure the car is parked on a flat surface.
- Wear protective gloves and safety glasses.
- Remove windshield wipers and any external trim using the Universal Bolt-On Windshield Wiper Puller.
Step 2: Loosen the Windshield Seal
- Use the Rubber Gasket Tool with Ball End to carefully loosen the seal around the windshield.
- Apply light pressure with the Curved Handle Locking Strip Tool to detach the molding.
Step 3: Cut Through the Urethane Seal
- Insert the Medium Handle Cold Knife at the corner of the windshield and carefully pull it along the edges to slice through the adhesive.
- For extra precision, use the Standard Pull Knife Blades (1", 0.75", and 1.5") as needed.
Step 4: Lift the Windshield
- Place the Super Grip Suction Cups on the glass surface and gently lift the windshield from the frame.
- If resistance is felt, rework the seal with the Pinchweld Scraper Razor Tool to clear any remaining adhesive.
Step 5: Final Cleanup
- Use the Auto Glass Chisel Stick and Hook/Pick Set to remove any leftover urethane from the frame.
- Your windshield is now ready for a fresh installation!
- Wear Safety Gear – Use gloves and goggles to protect against glass and adhesives.
- Secure Work Area – Stabilize the vehicle and clear the space.
- Handle Glass Carefully – Use suction cups to prevent drops.
- Use Tools Properly – Follow instructions, especially for power tools.
- Beware of Sharp Edges – Handle knives and scrapers with care.
- Avoid Excessive Force – Prevent damage by working steadily.
- Ensure Ventilation – Avoid inhaling adhesive fumes.
- Dispose Responsibly – Discard glass and blades safely.
- Keep Tools Secure – Store away from children.
